Smørbrød, an inexpensive Danish bread for small or big appetites.

For those looking to diversify their diet on the cheap, here's the smørbrød , a nutritious Scandinavian rusk rich in vitamins.

Smørbrød (pronounced smeureubreut) comes to us from the hostile plains of Scandinavia.

The Vikings ate it before going to war and Swedish athletes made it into toast before the Olympic triple jump events.

Because smørbrød is full of vitamins!

I tried this when my girlfriend brought me some from Denmark and I've been hooked ever since! It's simple, I marry this rusk with everything and anything. In fact, no matter what I put on it, the smørbrød already contains sufficient nutrients in itself (carbohydrates, lipids, proteins...)

I buy my packet of rusks at the supermarket for 2 euros. In the morning, I dip one or two in my coffee and sometimes at lunchtime, I make myself a hearty little sandwich with salmon, tomatoes or brie. It's perfect for the day!

The only downside to smørbrød is that it's so thick that it's sometimes stuffy. So don't look bigger than your stomach or the smørbrød (as you wish) will get your skin!
