Sponges are super handy but they get dirty super fast!
I feel like I buy some every 4 mornings...
In just a few days, they turn black, they smell bad and are full of germs!
And given the price it costs and the consumption I make, at the end of the year the bill is steep...
Fortunately, here are 3 simple and effective tips to resurrect the old sponges and keep them longer.
By disinfecting your sponges every week, you prolong their life and save money. Watch:
- 1/2 cup baking soda
- 3 tablespoons of white vinegar
In a basin, pour 1 liter of hot water and put the sponges in it. Add the baking soda and then the white vinegar. It's normal for it to foam. Let the sponges soak for at least an hour to thoroughly sanitize them. Remember to mix again after 30 minutes if crystals form in the basin. Check out the trick here.
- lemon juice
Pour the lemon juice into the sponges to soak them well. Boil a pot of water and when it boils, put the sponges in it. Leave on for 2 hours. Instead of the pot of boiling water, you can also place the sponges in the microwave for 30 seconds at maximum power. Check out the trick here.
- 1 tablespoon of sodium percarbonate
In a basin, pour 2 glasses of hot water. Add the percarbonate and mix. Immerse the sponges in it and let them soak for at least 2 hours. It only remains to rinse the sponges with clear water. Check out the trick here.
There you go, you now know how to clean and disinfect your sponges to bring them back to life :-)
Easy, fast and efficient, right?
With these 3 tips, your sponges will be able to double their lifespan!
And therefore buy 2 times less every year. The savings are yours!
