Sales season is here—prime time for snagging deals on that perfect little black dress. But before I swipe my card, I always declutter my closet first. It helps me pinpoint exactly what I need and avoid impulse buys.
Decluttering starts with sorting into categories: I keep what I wear regularly and set aside what I don't. From there, I divide the discards into two piles.

I never just toss clothes—we've all got that favorite sweater with a hole we can't bear to trash.
So I create two piles: slightly damaged items for charities, and pieces in good condition to share with friends, my daughter, or sister-in-law.
For nearly new items—spotless and flawless—I host a barter swap, list them on eBay or Leboncoin with great photos, or consign them at a shop. The extra cash funds my sale splurges!

Recycling wardrobe favorites is key. Love that skirt but it's too long? Or that jacket needs a brighter vibe? Time to retouch and customize.
I shorten hems, lengthen pants, swap coat buttons, or add ribbons to sweaters—breathing new life into them for the season ahead.

Before hitting the sales, a quick inventory ensures smarter spending.
Now I know my inventory gaps, plus:
> Styles that truly flatter me
> Colors that don't work
I jot down must-buys first. With space cleared, I can replace discards guilt-free and indulge in those crushes!
